| Q: |
How do you reach
the platform at the bottom of the big drop on level 4? |
| A: |
It's
not as hard as you think. The easiest way is to stand on the
LEFT side of the big drop. Now walk off the edge and as you
fall through the air, tap the right arrow key several times.
If you get the timing right you'll land safely on the ledge
near the teleporter. It may take a couple tries, so it's best
to save (press "S") your position before you jump
so that you can load it (press "L") in case you miss. |
| Q: |
Why does the Security
Shield reactivates at different times? |
| A: |
The Security shield reactivates every 17, disregarding if
it has already been activated. ie. There is a 17 second cycle.
When the switch is activated, the cycle already may be half
way through (or even more). But when it reactivates itself,
that is the beginning of the cycle. |
| Q: |
How do I stick to
walls? |
| A: |
You can stick to walls to jump higher by holding onto the
jump button (Shift), and tapping the left or right arrow key
(depending on which side the wall is) to bounce up the wall.
It takes practice and timing. |
| Q: |
When Dr Goo walks
near the edge of the screen, I can't see what's coming up! |
| A: |
You can manually centre the screen by pressing "Enter".
This is very useful if there is a hazard just in the next screen. |

Game Problems & Errors |
| Q: |
I can't see the whole
screen! |
| A: |
The problem is that your monitor is set to a lower resolution
(desktop size) than the game requires. Dr Goo 3 requires a desktop
size of 800x600. If you have a lower desktop size (like 640x480)
then the game is too big to fit on the screen properly.
To change the desktop size:
Click on (Start button > Settings > Control Panel).
This opens the Control Panel
Double-click the "Display" icon
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top
Drag the slider under "Screen Size" so that
the writing underneath says "800x600"
Depending on your monitor and graphics drivers, you may have
to restart your computer.

| Q: |
Why is it that when
I start the game, I just get a screen mentioning "The Games
Factory" and then the game immediately terminates? |
| A: |
Although this bug has been known for some time, it only affects
a small percentage of users. There is no actual patch for it.
This is a bug in "The Games Factory" (the program
used to originally create all the games on this site). This
issue has been solved by re-creating all the games using "Multimedia
Fusion" (similar to "The Games Factory). All the games
have been upgraded so if you installed the game off a demo/shareware
CD or downloaded it previous to January 2000, then you'll have
to download and reinstall it again. More information about "The
Games Factory" and "Multimedia Fusion" can be
found at ClickTeam.
|
| Q: |
Installing the game
causes other programs, like Microsoft Office to crash frequently. |
| A: |
This problem has been experienced by only a small percentage
of users, and is most likely caused by a software conflict occurring
during installation. The installation instructions clearly indicate
that all other programs should be closed during the installation
procedure. This is to prevent such problems happening. To resolve
this issue, you can scan your system files and, if necessary,
restore the previously saved configuration of your computer
system using the "System File" diagnostics tool that
comes with Windows 98. For more details on the diagnostics tool,
check the Windows help, or visit the Windows
98 website and do a search on "system files".

| Q: |
The game slows down
when I switch applications (by pressing "Alt + Tab") |
| A: |
This can be caused if you have a slower computer or too many
programs running. To resolve this, just switch applications
again (by pressing "Alt + Tab"). If it doesn't work
on the first time, it may take a couple tries. |
